Susan Abraham

(RIVERSIDE) SUSAN ABRAHAM February 14, 1931-December 28, 2005 After a year-long battle with leukemia, Susie Abraham is now at peace. Mom was born on February 14, 1931 to Walter and Thelma Pratt. She grew up on Larchwood St., attending Magnolia Elementary and Chemawa Junior High. She graduated from Poly H.S. in 1948. In May of 1950, she married Jerald Abraham, spending 50 happy years together until his death in August of 2000. Over the years, Susie served on numerous PTAs, was a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout den mother, drove thousands of miles for Meals on Wheels and volunteered tirelessly with Poly's Class of 48 Reunion Committee. She spent many years counting the weekly offering at Lutheran Church of the Cross, and most recently was a member of Faith Lutheran. And she never met a stray animal she didn't like! Our house was always filled with dogs, cats, cookies and love. She lived her life with intention, strength, grace and class. Susie is survived by son Phil Abraham, wife MJ, grandsons Andrew & Jeff of Riverside and granddaughter Lea Kirkpatrick of Laguna Beach; daughter Ann Brooks, husband Bill, and grandson Jack of Federal Way, WA. Many thanks go to all her good friends and family who came by to say `hi' and keep her company in her last weeks. A memorial service celebrating Mom's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4 at Faith Lutheran Church, 4785 Jackson Street in Riverside. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Akes Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Susie's name may be made to: Faith Lutheran or the Riverside Humane Society. Mom was also a life-long blood donor who ended up needing a lot of blood this year--and we know she would appreciate it if you gave a pint in her honor.
